Our Process

This is likely too long but a good place to start.

Our Manufacturing Process

At Aure Maison, manufacturing is not a backdrop to design — it is inseparable from it. Every switch, dimmer, and outlet is made with the understanding that it will be handled daily, installed once, and expected to perform quietly for decades.

Material Selection

We begin with solid brass, selected not only for its appearance but for its mechanical stability, density, and long-term durability. Brass offers the ideal balance of strength and workability, allowing for precise machining while retaining the weight and warmth that define a well-made object.

Unlike plated or lightweight alternatives, solid brass maintains its integrity over time, resisting deformation and wear under repeated use.

Precision Machining

Each component is precision machined to tight tolerances. This ensures consistent geometry, reliable fit, and a uniform feel across all products — whether a single switch in a private residence or hundreds specified across a multi-unit project.

Mechanical performance is treated with the same care as visual proportion; resistance, movement, and alignment are all intentionally calibrated. The result is a controlled, weighted action that feels deliberate and assured — a sense of tension that communicates permanence and purpose with every use.

Hand Assembly & Finishing

Following machining, components are assembled and finished by hand. Hand finishing allows us to control surface quality at a level mass production cannot — softening edges, refining transitions, and achieving a finish that feels deliberate rather than manufactured.

This process preserves the natural depth of the material, allowing light to interact subtly with the surface rather than appearing flat or artificial.

Made to Order

All Aure Maison products are made to order. We do not carry finished inventory or produce in excess. Each piece is completed individually, ensuring consistency across finishes while allowing the brass to retain its inherent character.

Minor variations are a natural result of this process and reflect the material and craftsmanship behind every product — not a lack of control, but an absence of shortcuts.

Built for Longevity

Our approach prioritizes longevity over speed. Components are chosen for reliability, assemblies are tested for durability, and finishes are developed to age gracefully rather than degrade.

Over time, the material develops a patina that adds depth without compromising performance — a quality that cannot be replicated through coatings or surface treatments alone.

Enduring by Design

The result is electrical hardware designed to endure — mechanically dependable, visually restrained, and capable of improving with age. These are objects meant to be installed once, lived with daily, and remain relevant long after trends have passed.

We believe the best details are the ones that don’t ask for attention. They perform without hesitation, age without compromise, and remain in place not because they are noticed, but because they are never questioned.
